"Taken in to A&E after falling and sustaining concussion"

About: Raigmore Hospital / Accident & Emergency Raigmore Hospital / General Medicine

(as the patient),

I was taken in to A&E last Friday after falling on ice and sustaining concussion. Firstly the ambulance staff were super, very reassuring, on admission to A&E was met by cheerful staff who quickly sorted me out as I was rather wet after lying on snow and ice for some time.

The staff were caring, informing me all the time what was happening ( due to my head injury I was very dizzy and nauseous and had a very sore head!)

Was taken for a head scan fairly promptly and then transferred to Ward 6A

Thank you doctor and nurses in A&E for being caring and professional

Dear Higkm75

I hope you are feeling much better and are now on the mend,

It was very kind of you to take the time to share your experience on Care Opinion.

I have forwarded your lovely comments onto the A&E department and the staff who, I am sure will be delighted to receive them.

Please take care as it is still cold and icy out there!

Best wishes

Gil

Update posted by Higkm75 (the patient)

I would like to mention Rebecca, Kimberly in A&E, and when I went to Ward 6 the staff there were super especially Sister Janice on nights, I was very dizzy and very sick and Janice and her staff were very reassuring, the one criticism was as I came in as emergency, I had no soap, toothbrush or even a comb!!!Maybe a little pack for patients who come with no toilet accessories would be a good idea.

(I spent all my working life as nurse in NHS)

Dear Higkm75

Thank you for letting us know about Rebecca and Kimberly in A&E and the Ward 6 staff. I will make sure that your kind comments are passed onto them.

I would also like to thank you for highlighting the difficulties you encountered with regards accessing toiletries when being admitted as an emergency patient. Your comments and suggestion will be passed to the Service Manager for the Department.

Best Wishes

Gil
