"Home First Kelso Team - their care for my mum"

About: Borders Community Services / Hospital to home service

(as a relative),

The Home First Kelso Team helped to provide care for my mum over December 2020 following her discharge from hospital after recovering from pneumonia.   Unfortunately she had contracted covid whilst in hospital and it quickly became clear that she was deteriorating rapidly.   The Home First ladies did an amazing job of providing personal care to my mum, as well as showing great compassion and assisting her to preserve some dignity when she was completely bed bound.   They were so lovely to her and assisted in allowing my mum to stay at home during her last few weeks which is what she really wanted, rather than being confined to a covid ward in the hospital.   They also provided immense support, both practical and emotional, to me as I looked after her during her last few weeks and I know I would not have been able to cope without their visits.   I am so very grateful to all the lovely ladies in the team and I will never be able to fully express my gratitude to them for everything they did for me and my mum.

Thank you for taking the time to feedback your experience of the Home First Team. I was very saddened to read your story and wish to express my condolences for your loss. I was however very heartened to hear that your mum was able to be back with yourself in her own home in her last few weeks and receive all the care that she needed, I know this will be of some comfort to you at this difficult time. The entire team works extremely hard to provide person centred and compassionate care and we are all proud of the service that they offer.

I will make sure that the team see your response which I know they will all appreciate.

Kind regards

Caroline Burgess

My thoughts are with you and your family at this difficult time
