Had a great experience of my labour regardless of all the difficulties involved and will always have really positive memories of the majority.
Attended in late November at 35+5 weeks pregnant due to contractions. Was seen quickly in maternity triage and foetal distress was seen on ctg so I was taken to the consultant led delivery rooms. I had everything explained very clearly to me by the lovely Dr and midwives and was told I might need to consider emergency c section if the heart rate continued to drop, which unfortunately it did.
The c section went so smoothly, everyone helped me remain so calm and I really appreciate how quick everything went. I wish I could remember more names to thank everyone, I think the Dr was called Laura.
The experience after this continued to be mostly positive. My baby was taken to SCBU for over 2 weeks and unfortunately I was discharged after 3 days, but I am so grateful to the staff in recovery, ward 31, and neonatal for all the support, especially with breastfeeding / expressing when I struggled with this.
Special thanks to every member of staff in neonatal that treated my baby and helped support me and my husband, particularly Emma, Michelle and Dawn the breastfeeding nurse. There were so many more I would love to mention, I wish I had taken note of names.
