My son attended RACH for an outpatient appointment last year (I meant to write at the time but completely forgot).  He's a teenager and can be anxious at times - though he doesn't let anyone know that.  A member of the Play Team subtly helped distract him while getting blood taken - knowing just what to say, and the radiographer who took his x-rays was brilliant with her explanations with what the x-ray's showed and why they were needed.  Really makes a big difference when staff go out of their way, not just to do their jobs, but to make the patient feel special and included.

Dear Kirkd39

Thank you for your feedback following your son's attendance at outpatients. I agree, it is difficult to know what a teenager is thinking and feeling as they don't give much away do they? I am glad that he was reassured by the interventions of the play service and the radiographer.
