"Thank you for Fantastic Care"

I am so grateful for the warm and all-round positive experience I had when getting my hip surgery last week at Woodend Hospital. 

Having a little insight into medical care and surgery I was irrationally nervous beforehand but I was welcomed warmly and immediately felt safe. 

Everyone introduced themselves, communicated clearly and checked frequently on me. I did not need to ask for anything and help was always available and quick to arrive.  I was given lots of tips on how to look after myself, wash, dress etc specifically to my surgery and home circumstances and had the chance to practice looking after myself with "help on standby" to ensure I felt safe to go home without running into any trouble. 

The ward was kept clean and everyone adhered to infection control measures including all the COVID precautions and social distancing. Despite all the COVID restrictions the staff was cheerful and seemed to work well together as a team. The nurses, auxiliaries (David), phlebotomist (Leslie), physio, OT , FY2s (Andrew, Joe and Jack) , surgeons (Mr Johnston, Mr Ashcroft), anaesthetist (Dr Cranfield and her registrar) and cleaners and other ward and theatre staff were fabulous. 

Most importantly, my observation is that it was not just me who was treated so well. All the other patients in my area received the same care and attention from everyone and I could hear family frequently being updated as visiting was not possible with tear 4 restrictions.

I am very glad I chose to get my surgery done at Woodend Hospital and would highly recommend it and I can't thank everyone enough for their care and attention. I hope that more people can experience such fantastic Orthopaedic care and benefit from it.
