"Crisis line made me feel worse"

About: Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust / Crisis resolution

(as a service user),

I received some really bad news - I was already in a really bad state anyway.

I had been depressed for years and had been on a lot of tablets.

We were in the middle of lockdown - I was going through a divorce, living on my own.

I have had mental health problems for years, getting worse.

They always said the ring the crisis line if things got bad - one night they did and in desperation I called.

But this nurse who answered didn't seem to give a hoot. They just blew me off without giving anything for what I was going through. They just didn't care at all.

I felt far worse after calling - it was like even the crisis line couldn't be bothered with me - so like what's the point?

I just felt like that was it I might as well top myself right then and there.  I had been dry for a couple of years but I started drinking again that night with a mind to doing myself in later.

This service is supposed to be there to help you but they didn't care

Update posted by demoralised patient (a service user)

The Trust did a so-called investigation which I found just a whitewash and a waste of time.

The above comments are just "words" and I've seen no changes made or serious consideration of what patients say taken whatsoever.

My comments were just dismissed lightly and the whole affair air brushed away.

The response from the Trust has been all about PR and fancy words - all talk and no action.

In spite of serious mental health problems I am still receiving NO support or treatment from this Trust which is a clear indication of how much they "care."

Instead they have left me totally unsupported and without any form of therapy in spite of a designation of "complex needs." When an assessment by one of their own services indicated a need for referral for further therapy the Trust refused to allow this, leaving me in a distressed state with many unresolved issues and "Complex Needs" which the Trust admits it cannot meet. Their solution? To do nothing"!

This is how much they "care!"

Pure hypocrisy. Pure PR.
