"Fantastic care"

About: King's Mill Hospital

I was recently knocked off my feet by severe tonsillitis with Quincy, I went to the A&E dept despite all the COVID restrictions I was seen very quickly and started receiving treatment very quickly I was reassured all of the time and was told what was happening all of the time as I was a nervous patient.

I was put on a drip within 30 mins of being there and then transferred to a ward within an hour where I started my recovery.

I was out on ward 11 where I was treated with a very helpful nurse who asked me lots of questions so they can make me as comfortable as possible.

There was allways someone on hand that was checking on me and all of the other patients, nothing was too much of a problem.

Later on that night I was asked if I needed anything and I said I was very hungry as I had not been able to eat the past few day straight away she got me a menu and said just let her know what I would like and there would be no problem at all.

Within 20 mins my food was with me again greeted by a very helpful lady from the catering dept who was very happy to help and bring me a coffee also.

Later that night a received checks very frequently yes it’s disturbs your sleep but they only have your best interests at heart. The head nurse that was on the evening shift was fantastic she was so bubbly and just made the who situation a lot better.

The next morning I was seen by the ENT doctor who told me I was well enough to go home that day and he discharged me.

I had to wait for my medication to come from the pharmacy which took till nearly 4 in the afternoon which was a big let down.

However all through the day even though I was going home they made me meals and made me feel comfortable even carrying out my observation and checking how I was getting home and making sure I was going to get better.

I can honestly say this is the best care I have ever had in my life and would like to thank everyone that took care of me not only on ward 11 but the nurse that started my medication in A&E, the Porter who took me to the ward everyone also the people that don’t normally get the praise. Such as the cleaners they were allways cleaning everywhere and made sure everything was clean and tidy even more so at this time with COVID
