"Still struggling with EUPD symptoms"

About: Falkirk Community Hospital / Woodlands Resource Centre

(as the patient),

I met with a psychiatrist who told me to 'look online'with regards to my EUPD diagnosis that I had only known about for 5 months despite being diagnosed (by St. John's Hospital, Livingston) 4 years previously. Never even had a second appointment with this person.

According to a CPN, I was 'getting a bit ahead of myself' receiving private EMDR sessions (which the above mentioned psychiatrist was fine about), whilst waiting for the Mindfulness group & Emotion regulation group commencing.

If I waited on that centre for any support I would still be in the same position I was when first referred- probably worse.

Another staff member just liked to brush off my concerns or talk about my ongoing access to their care whenever I came in to appointments. I can still remember the uninterested tone when they went through the checklist, self harmed or had any thoughts of self harm or suicide? Surely if you're dealing with BPD/EUPD people that is one of the diagnostic symptoms they have, but are threatened with - 'if you self harm or try to commit suicide we can't help you' line. And barely there & they were getting ready to leave.

Before Christmas there, I had to find out from my social worker that I had been discharged from your services, you did not even have the courtesy to send me a letter or an email. The same happened with my first appointment - I mysteriously did not receive a letter for that either.

Still struggling with EUPD symptoms. A disgrace in treatment of patients as in such a severe lack of.

Dear Bizzybee

Thank you for taking the time to get in touch to tell us about your recent experience. I was sorry to hear that your experience was not a more positive one, this is not how we want our patients to feel, please accept my most sincere apologies.

You have mentioned in your post that you are unhappy with the interactions with staff, please can I ask you to contact one of the Team Leaders at the Woodlands Resource Centre to talk about your experience and also look at how we can give you ongoing support. You can contact Samantha Baird or Johanna Maloney who can be contacted on 01324 624111.

I really do hope you contact one of the team leaders, it is really different and difficult times we are in at the moment, and would really appreciate the opportunity to offer support and discuss your concerns.

Kindest regards

Many thanks for your response, it won't be a courtesy all will show.

Firstly, your advice on contacting Woodlands directly is not something I am confident in doing as I doubt they will be expecting my call & will plead ignorance anyway. I have previously called them regarding a missing appointment letter & was made out to be a liar by the member of staff I spoke to. Standard treatment of people with mental illness people thinking we don't know our own mind though.

Secondly, this has nothing to do with 'the difficult times we are in.' This all happened (& please be aware this site censored some of my story) pre-lockdown so that cannot be used as an excuse here.
