"Terrible staff in ultrasound dept"

About: Stirling Care Village

(as a service user),

Twice I have been referred to Stirling Care village and twice have been treated terribly by the nurse and senior radiologist / sonographer. First time, an inexperienced young person was trying and failing to carry out my ultrasound. The senior was tutting and sighing every time they had to assist. I was then asked to go change into a gown for an internal scan. They still could not get the images they wanted and I was treated like an inconvenience. I left very upset.

The next time, the nurse collecting me from the waiting room looked me up and down and did not return my small talk or put me at ease at all. It was the same senior sonographer. I was asked to pull my dress up, no blanket or paper was provided to cover my modesty. Again, they were rude because she could not get the images required (I have endometriosis which has stuck all my organs together and distorted everything with adhesions) I ended up standing up, getting my bag and walking out because I was upset and could not take anymore. I thought I was being overly sensitive until I spoke to an acquaintance who had the same experience as me and I’ve decided to make a complaint. Complete lack of compassion.

Hi Michelleon1982

I am extremely sorry to hear about you recent poor experiences when you attended for your ultrasound scans, which left you very upset.

This is not the standard of service I would expect from our ultrasound team and I am disappointed to hear you felt the staff were rude and lacked compassion.

I have shared this with the ultrasound Team Leader who has discussed your experience with her team.

However if you were able to provide me with your details, I can discuss with the individuals involved and enable them to reflect on your comments. You can email me this to sandra.robertson@nhs.scot

The Radiology Department strives to provide an excellent service to our patients and as mentioned it is always disappointing to receive negative feedback. I would like to thank you again for bringing this to my attention, allowing us to improve patient care.

Thanks Sandra
