"Not really the best"

About: Manor Hospital

After struggling really bad with my mental health for the past few months, I gave 111 a call who then put me in contact with a doctor. On the phone he asked whether I could make it to the hospital on the following night to be able to pick up anti depressants. When I get to the hospital I was very confused and anxious as I wasn’t sure on where I was going which shot my anxiety and my speech stutter through the roof. However, after walking down a corridor I bumped into a nurse who was absolutely lovely and directed me to where I needed to go. I walked through the double doors of the a&e department to be greeted with a man sitting behind a desk. As I was already anxious I was finding it incredibly difficult to keep my diction clear as my voice was stuttering, I had to be able to talk a bit slower so I could process what I was saying so I didn’t get myself worked up again or end up repeating myself over again. This was until the man behind the desk started rolling his hand in front of me in a sign of telling me to hurry up which I found incredibly disrespectful. Mainly because it was so quiet in this department with 5 other patients there before me so being rushed didn’t make me feel any better. (Nor did I understand why he felt that was necessary)Once seen by a doctor, I was told that they could give me antidepressants and instead gave me sleeping tablets which was another issue I addressed but wasn’t my main concern. When I asked why this had happened the doctor simply said “they can write all the information down correctly but state it wrongly over the phone”. Luckily the doctor was really nice about it and gave me a few alternatives I can turn to until I can get an appointment with my gp. Wasn’t one bit impressed by being told that but not much I can do now

Thank you for the feedback - I note that we received this concern directly which related to the Urgent Care Centre and was passed on for feedback. I am however again sorry that your experience was poor.
