i was phoned the night before planned Chemo treatment and asked to be at the unit at 9.40am. This was 1 hour earlier than previously planned. I arrived as asked and ended up sitting and waiting for 2 hours before being seen. I did ask why I was waiting and was told I was next. This took a long time. I watched many others arrive and be called for treatment.
When I went into be treated I was told my blood platelets were too low to have treatment and I needed to have more bloods. I had my bloods done and platelets were still too low, so I was quickly sent on my way with little information and support as by this time I was confused and felt I as rushed through with little thought. I then had to find my way home. I felt very let down by the Headland Unit and rushed though with little thought for my feelings and needs.
Not happy as implications of low platelets was not explained to me either. I had to look it up and phone my Oncology nurse to find out. Poor service on this visit. it is so sad.
