"Terrible experience"

About: Tavistock And Portman NHS Foundation Trust

(as the patient),

7 months ago I was referred to the Tavistock for specialist psychoanalytic psychotherapy as the local area couldn’t meet my complex mental health needs.

They obtained reports and letters from my psychologist but I heard nothing more.  After 5 months I called them only to be told they had cancelled my referral!  I was devastated!

After much digging it turned out this was an error – one of many.

It took an official complaint before I discovered in a letter that there had in fact been a series of errors in several different departments that had resulted in my referral being delayed and in the request for funding never being made!

Had I not enquired it might never have been processed.

Months later I have still heard nothing about an appointment and the Tavistock is still not doing anything about expediting my referral.

The result is that despite all the delay caused directly by their mistakes – admitted to in the letter – they are making me pay for this by further delay and are seemingly not doing anything whatever about it.

This seems incredibly unjust.

All of this is causing me a great deal of additional stress and psychological trauma – ironic when one considers that the clinic is supposed to be treating mental health conditions!
