"Neonatal care"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Neo-natal Intensive Care

(as the patient),

My son was admitted to neonatal shortly after a c-section birth,he was having problems with his lungs.

After a few hours of rest I got a visit from a nurse who had pictures of my little dude, this gave me reassurance that he was doing OK, even tho I knew he was poorly it still helped put a smile on my face.

Once I got out of bed I went through to neonatal to see my wee dude, but before I seen him his nurse Deborah stopped me and updated me on his condition and told me what to expect.

Deborah is an amazing nurse, not only did she look after my little bundle of joy she looked after me ensuring that I was comfortable in the chair whilst holding him. She gave me lots of support as I was struggling seeing my wee dude so poorly, if it wasn't for covid I'm sure she would have gave the best hugs. Deborah listened to all my worries and concerns and didn't judge me. So I would truly from the bottom of my heart like to say thank you to Deborah for everything.

I would also like to thank Janice. She also looked after my wee dude when he was really poorly and helped to comfort me when I wasn't coping. So again thank you to Janice for everything and looking after my wee dude, he is thriving.

I wanted to write this as I wanted to share my experience of the amazing staff at FVRH neonatal. And nothing personal I hope when I have baby number 2 I don't need to see you again.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart and my husbands for looking after our wee prince and getting him well enough to come home.

Yous are all truly amazing xxx

Dear Carameltop87

Congratulations on the birth of your little boy. I hope you are both well and you are enjoying having him home and getting settled in to family life.

Thank you so much for taking the time to send such wonderful feedback especially when you won’t have a moment to yourself!

Having your wee baby in Neonatal is such a frightening and emotional time for parents so it is great to hear that Deborah and Janice made the experience so much better. It is amazing how taking the time to explain everything can make such a big difference. I am sure those first pictures will have pride of place in the album. As a new Mum you would be so worried for your wee boy and not be thinking about yourself but you are important too so having staff who listened and gave the support you needed will have helped a great deal.

I have sent a copy of your posting to Deborah and Janice and I know they will be over the moon to read it. They also can’t wait to get back to giving mum and baby hugs!

With best wishes for all the fun and wonderful times that lie ahead with your wee “dude” and when you come back for baby number 2, pop along to Neonatal and say hello!

Have a fantastic Christmas.

Gail
