"Total knee replacement at The Derwent"

About: Royal Bournemouth Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as a service user),

My operation date came through, and it was recommended that I went for the spinal anaesthetic.   This filled me initially with fear, having had a bad experience of a spinal injection years ago.   James my anaesthetist came to see me and reassured me - he was brilliant, he took me through what he was doing all the way.   The nurses and physios in the Derwent are lovely, nothing is too much trouble, from Jade, Sue, Sue, Marion, Tom and all the others it was not as frightening as first thought, and they were there all the time.   Thank you to all of you for seeing me through this (to me) traumatic operation, I cannot praise you all highly enough  CJ - Room 30

Dear CJJ1943

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us and it is great to see so many individuals played their part in making your stay with us such a positive one.

Working together as a team they appear to have calmed your fears pre-surgery, kept you informed throughout your procedure and been with you day and night to aid you in your recovery to get you mobile enough to go home.

We will share your lovely comments with those you mentioned as it will mean a lot to them to know they helped you.

Regards

Patient Experience Team
