"Treated with kindness and respect."

About: Glasgow Royal Infirmary / Accident & Emergency

(as a parent/guardian),

I recently attended the A&E department at GRI with my teenage son.  He had been assaulted at school and had a broken nose and needed some stitches on his face.

The whole team treated my son with kindness and respect.  Dr Maguire, the triage and MIU nurses (I didn't get their names), the radiographer and even a medical student (I didn't get their names either) in the department made a horrible, sad experience a bit easier.

My son has spoken a lot about how he was treated in the days following his attendance at your department and how positive all of your attitudes were.  He was shocked, shaken and feeling vulnerable and you all helped a great deal.

I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

Dear CD72,

I was really sorry to read of your son's recent assault at school. I appreciate that this would have been a difficult time for you and your son and I have please to hear that your experience of care within the ED at Glasgow Royal Infirmary was such a positive one and the impact that this had on your son.

It is always satisfying for our staff to receive such positive feedback from our patients and I will ensure that the staff concerned are made aware of your comments. Thank you for taking the time to contact us via Care Opinion.

I trust that you son is feeling better within himself and that he is making a full recovery.

Your sincerely,

John Stuart.

Chief Nurse.
