My son became unwell on Monday and my GP advised to take him to a general hospital, who weren’t as understanding around my sons illness. We were then discharged home, once we got home I got another call to say we had to go back to our local hospital as the same doctor had forgot to do further tests. We went back to the hospital and he was discharged again.
The following morning my son remains unwell, and I decided to take my son to the Royal Hospital for children in Glasgow we attended and a@E Department for children who were all outstanding, my son would like to give his gratitude to Nurse Hannah In a@e and also the paediatric consultant and the surgical team who were on duty that day.
My son was extremely upset as I had previously had a cancer diagnosis and my son was worried that he had cancer. After making the staff aware of my sons anxieties around my cancer diagnosis, The staff reassured my son that They would take good care of him And get to the bottom of his illness. We were then transferred to Ward 3B The care that my son received was outstanding he had his own room with private toilet and pulldown bed for myself which allowed me to see with him, he was seen on a regular basis by the medical staff and nursing staff.
My son first experience of being in a hospital designed for children was outstanding. In particular Student Nurse Mike was so kind caring and will be an asset to the hospital where he qualifies. At no point did we feel that we weren’t included or involved in the care plan and we always felt not only was my son listen to but as a mother I was also listen to. I cannot thank the medical team and nursing team enough for their care to my son.
"My sons excellent care"
