"Clydesdale CAMHS and DBT services"

About: Clydesdale CAMHs

(as a parent/guardian),

I want to say thank you to the staff at Clydesdale CAMHS and the CAMHS DBT team for the support that they have provided to my daughter and myself over the past 18 months helping her to become the 'independent woman' (her words! ) that she is today.

In particular I want to thank her DBT therapist, Peter, and her CAMHS worker, Marion, and her psychiatrist who have helped her when she was unable to help herself, who listened to her and advocated on her behalf, encouraged, challenged and praised her. These staff members also were a great support to me, her mum, when I didnt know what to do next.

I also want to thank Carol who is the person who answers the CAMHS Clydesdale phone and is always kind, calm and responsive. This is so important and appreciated. Finally I want to thank the DBT team. This intervention along with the 1: 1 support offered has taught my daughter and me how to manage the difficulties she experiences. It has made an enormous difference to our lives. We use the skills all the time. It wasnt easy at first. My daughter found it difficult to engage with DBT at first but the gentle, kind, sometimes humorous and practical approach worked and I would recommend DBT wholeheartedly. I would love it to be better resourced so that it can be made more widely available to young people in Lanarkshire. Thank you all.

Thank you very much for your kind and thoughtful words, I will make sure your appreciation is passed on to the clinicians involved. I am heartened to hear that both you and your daughter found the therapeutic approach and support helpful and that it has allowed your daughter to move on positively with her life. Thank you.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments on the service you and your daughter received from our clinicians. They work very hard and it is really heartening when they receive positive appreciation.

The service and clinicians have worked hard to set up our DBT service which is available to all young people across the whole of Lanarkshire should they need it. We are very proud of our clinical DBI team which is the only full DBI service in Scotland.

I hope this Christmas is a very special time for you and your independent daughter.
