"I was in a very safe environment"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Stroke Care Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a service user),

In October I collapsed with very alarming (to me) symptoms. I continued to feel very ill so my husband phoned 999 and shortly afterwards an ambulance arrived and two very pleasant very efficient paramedics attended to me. They were very empathetic and so reassuring. But after a few tests they informed my husband and I that they thought I'd had a mini stroke and I was taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock.

I cannot praise the staff there too highly particularly in the stroke ward. Everyone from cleaners, porters to nursing staff and doctors impressed me with their dedication to helping and respecting all patients.

Although I felt extremely anxious about my diagnosis I felt I was in a very safe environment because of the skilled and informative way I was handled.

Thank you all so much :)

Dear giftfw84

Thank you very much for posting your kind words especially after what much have been a very worrying time.

It is always very pleasing when I hear such words of thanks that highlight the good work our ambulance crews always strive to deliver.

I always try to feedback to ambulance crews directly when such praise is received and would appreciate if you would be willing, if you could send me some detail of your call in order that I can identify the crew that attended you.

All I would need is your name, location they attended and the date of the call and this can be forwarded to me at philipmeechan.mcaleer@nhs.scot

I hope you are now on the road to recovery.

Take care

Phil
