I was seen in the ED of Craigavon Area hospital one evening in late November 2020. I was triaged, bloods were taken and I was asked to wait in the main entrance hall of the hospital.

I have never been so cold in my life, I was able to phone my husband who brought me a second coat but there were older patients waiting who I was very concerned about. One lady even had her hat, scarf and gloves on and was still shivering.

I don’t know how easily this could be fixed with either heating or extra screens to block the draft from the front doors. Because the weather is getting colder this situation is only going to get worse and more patients will be affected.

I am sorry to read that you were so cold in the department. I have shared your story with the Lead Nurse for ED, who has requested that the heating engineers review the heating as a matter of urgency.

Dear vmcc, I hope you are keeping well. Our engineers are continuing to work on this issue, however in the meantime the side entrance has been temporarily closed off,the Lead Nurse has said that this is helping to keep the heat in to some degree
