An excellent experience with fantastic service from all staff, delivered in the face of the current challenging COVID conditions. I was admitted as a day patient for a knee arthroscopy, on a very busy day with many others being admitted this morning.
Before the surgery - telephone consultation and pre op assessment nurses were helpful and talked me through the process I would expect, advised me questions to ask my consultant, and reassured me relating to COVID rules.
On the day (today)
Arrived 6.45am and met at the door for temperature checks and confirm my name. Registration process was quick and staff were helpful. Porter escorted me to my room where I was made comfortable.
Pre surgery - met with nurses, my consultant, anesthetist, physiotherapist who all explained everything so I was clear during and post op what to expect, including taking my food order so I could eat and have a cup of tea once I was ready to post op.
Post op - all involved excellent and checked regularly I was okay to ensure I was ready to be discharged. Enjoyed a Cajun chicken panini and a good few pots of tea, which aided my recovery too! Good notes provided for aftercare and follow up appointments (consultant and physio).
All in all, arrived 6.45am and I was home by 2.15pm to rest and recuperate. I’m very impressed with the service offered, care taken, and overall experience, especially given the current COVID challenges facing front line services.
Thanks to all involved.
