"Truly excellent care"

About: Ty Llidiard

(as a parent/guardian),

My 16 year old daughter was admitted to the in-patient unit in Ty Llidiard in the Spring of 2020 - and was an in-patient for 3 months for a severe, life-threatening Eating Disorder. Her care was affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, I feel the care she received and we all as a family received was truly excellent.

The ward nursing staff were kind, patient, calm and skilful. The Dietician, Art Therapist and the Consultant were all knowledgable, wise and approachable. They were firm but easy to talk to and established effective relationships with both our daughter and us as parents. At all times we really felt supported by a wise, caring and effective team.

The family therapist worked hard with us over the months to help us develop the skills we needed to support her on discharge - and was a real source of knowledge and strength.

The care we received was expert - but totally individualised to our daughter’s specific needs.

The transition from the in-patient team to our localised CAHMS team was also handled very well - ensuring a safe transfer of her care once our daughter was engaged with her community key worker.

We feel the care we received saved her life - and has been superior to a lot of the experiences we have heard of from family and friends facing similar difficulties.
