I went in for a microdistectomy in late November. I was on Fulwood Ward for anyone going in.
The staff were brilliant. I was freaked out and nearly walked away from having the surgery. However after talking to the nursing staff and Mr Kamat and Mr Smith, I did go through with it and I'm very pleased.
After I came round, everyone came to check on me, spent time talking to me through the night as I couldn't sleep. Following day, I saw the kiwi physio (I wish I could remember people's names). Anyway she got me walking and up and down the stairs with the help of crutches. I found this hard before the op but felt good a day later. All the nursing staff helped cheer me up when I was having a moment of sadness and the physio got me up. The catering staff (Dan I think was his name) was great. Nothing to any of them was too much trouble. I'd like to thank all of the team on Fulwood in late November and early December. I hoped you enjoyed the choccie biscuits!
Finally for anyone worried or stressed like I was going in, don't be. The staff are wonderful, I was never left in pain. I am not a private patient and although they are a private hospital, my care was never any less than someone with private health care. I was never treated differently, always with respect. My after care has been all arranged by the hospital. I haven't had to do anything except rest and heal. And exercise if the Kiwi physio is reading this!
My heartfelt thanks.
"Excellent treatment on fulwood ward!"
