"That is care that is above and beyond"

I recently had to visit the Radiology Day Unit at East Surrey Hospital for a liver biopsy. I was very apprehensive when I arrived but the staff really put me at ease, introducing themselves and having a laugh with me. All of the staff were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. They really cared and worked as the most amazing team. The consultants and nurses chatted and were happy for the patients to join in.

Once I went for my procedure, the nurses talked me through everything as did the consultant who performed the biopsy. I was encouraged and talked through everything. Once back on the unit, I was observed regularly and told that everything was ok. My nerves were calmed. One of the nurses even went through breathing exercises with me when I was anxious. That is care that is above and beyond. I was fed and made tea and felt thoroughly spoilt. The cleaning on the unit was faultless and was done by all the staff. I am so grateful to have been so well looked after.
