About: Doncaster Royal Infirmary

This was my fourth visit to Opthalmology over the past two or three years, both as a patient and accompanying a patient. Sadly nothing has changed since previous visits; having arrived promptly for my appointment I finally saw a doctor two hours later (an hour and a half late when allowing for the time to dilate my eyes). Just before being called to see the doctor I was asked by a nurse which practitioner I was waiting to see; as it was an emergency appointment I was not in the position to provide a name. This elicited the response "well you should know". When I did finally get to see a doctor the appointment was handled quickly and efficiently. Sadly my positive perception of the skill of the doctor was very much marred by the rudeness of the nurse and the organisation of the department which appears to be run for the benefit of the staff rather than the patients.
