"Excellent treatment at Cardio rehabilitation"

About: Adult community services / Heart failure support services Northern General Hospital / Cardiology Rotherham Hospital / Cardiology

(as the patient),

I recently had a triple bypass in the Northern General Hospital.

I was at first seen by the Cardiology Staff at Rotherham hospital where I had an Angiogram. The fear I felt was dreadful but it was beyond belief how the staff and doctors look after you and then I was told I had to go for the bypass and I so wanted it done at Rotherham because of the Cardiology team but my gosh I can’t begin to describe the care I received, never in my life have I been treated so well.

So anyone needing Cardiac treatment rest assured you will be so very well cared for. My only complaint would be the community nurses who were dreadful.

A visit from the cardiac rehabilitation nurse helped and I learnt more in an hour then any visit from community nurses.

As part of my role, I support clinical services who undertake patient and public involvement on behalf of The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust which helps us to develop or redesign our services with patients in mind, from the valuable feedback we are given.

Dear Banjo 176, thank you for your recent posting and the positive feedback of your experience within Cardiology services. We recognise that for patients having investigations this can be quite an anxious time and we know that our staff do their upmost to provide reassurance and support at such times. We will ensure that our Cardiology staff are made aware of your feedback and know they will be very appreciative.

We were however, most concerned to hear that the care afforded you by our community nurses fell below what you expected and that what we strive to achieve. We sincerely apologise for this failing on our part and if you would like to take forward your concerns in relation to the community nurses, please contact our Patient Service department on 01709 424461 who will be more than happy to discuss this aspect of your care with you.

With best wishes,

Grace
