"Disgusting behaviour of staff"

About: Bradford Royal Infirmary Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

(as a relative),

My relative underwent private surgery under care of York Suite.

I have submitted complaint to health professional council over a radiographer at the BRI who I believe was abusive and slanderous towards my relative. The hpc had to tell me who this staff member was as the hospital refused to tell me. One reason they said it was too difficult for them to find out who it was as they have so many staff. Second reason was they were obliged not to reveal such information. I work in the NHS myself and found the staff to be talking utter rubbish in order to fob me off.

It appears staff may have nearly overdosed my relative with meds on one evening on another evening I understand they missed them off the meds ward round completely.

A porter there was angry with staff as they made him take my relative down to X-ray in a wheelchair. The radiographer down in X-ray said staff should have taken my relative to X-ray on their bed and not forced them into a wheelchair. This radiographer urged my relative to submit a complaint. The pain my relative experienced had them in tears. They were in tears every single day of their stay at this hospital.

On one evening, staff had my relative up until 3am in agony as two members of staff struggled for 45 minutes to insert a catheter.

At the end of the stay and numerous complaints I submitted, staff were surprised to find out that my relative had paid for the treatment and they didn't even know they were private.

The day after surgery my relative found a small tube still inserted in them from surgery which should have been removed.

The room they stayed in was never cleaned properly in the week my relative stayed there. I washed my relative down when I visited twice a day, and the bed sheets which appeared to be blood stained from surgery weren't even changed until the 3rd day.

It is now 3 weeks since the initial complaint and I am still awaiting a response from the hospital. I very much doubt they will issue an apology.

Absolutely disgusting treatment and attitudes - would not recommend for anyone. If this is how private patients are treated, god help NHS patients.
