"Inadequate practice"

About: United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust

My 21yr old daughter was admitted on Friday night with Quinsy. The staff in A&E were very kind to her as she was very poorly and anxious (1st hospital admission and obviously we couldn't be with her). However, after being seen at 9.30 on Saturday morning by a Dr who wanted to get her started on her IV antibiotics, she saw no one until I called to complain at 1pm! They gave her no lunch, no antibiotics and as she was in the isolation room she was not seen. She called me in tears wanting to discharge herself. When I called I was told the Dr hadn't filled in the paperwork hence no medication and that he was now doing clinic. They also would offer her toast! (anyone who knows what quinsy is will know that would be impossible for her to eat!). Eventually she was given her medication and sent home thank god!

I appreciate the current situation but a bit of compassion wouldn't go amiss.

I am sorry to hear about the care your daughter received within our A&E department and we are unsure which hospital she attended so I cannot direct it to the correct team.

Can you please contact the PALS team via pals@ulh.nhs.uk or 01522 707071 so we can get more details to look into the specific concerns you have raised.
