About: Pilgrim Hospital / Vascular surgery

(as the patient),

I have had 2 weeks at the pilgrim hospital I was in a room with several amputee patients who were lovely older women.

The day staff was wonderful and very helpful and cheerful, but when it came to the night staff it was very different. The staff in my experience seemed miserable and not very helpful to the other ladies. It got to the point where they didn't dare ring the bell for the commode and they wet them selfs. One lady rang for the commode they did not come so I rang my bell. A nurse came and got it but stood there and watched her struggle to get out of the bed and she could not get to the commode. The nurse just stood and she had to pee herself, she was so upset the nurse just walked away and left her, it was horrible to watch.

I then lost my temper and got them back in the room and told them they were supposed to help the patients as they were very frightened and had just lost their limbs. The nurse said sorry to her but the damage had been done. I sat with her till she felt a bit better but was not right for them to just have no compassion the shower was filthy I have got a video that I took was disgusting  I still have the video I may take this further there was much more to tell you about the 2 weeks I was in the pilgrim
