About: University Hospital Wishaw / Emergency Care

(as a relative),

My sister-in-law was taking to Wishaw General Hospital as not been well for a few days with sickness and running to the toilet. She was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Anyway after been check out she was told to go home and order a Covid-19 test for her mum and herself. She told them she could not get home. So after telling her not to mix with any other house hold due to the Covid-19 rules. They told her to contact her sister to collect her who does not live with her to take her home so in my opinion the hospital told her to break all Covid-19 rules. I think this must be why this pandemic is still raging on, even the Doctors are telling patients to break the rules

Dear spambo

Thank you for taking the time to post the details of your sister-in-law's experience on care opinion. I note that your sister-in-law was taken to the Emergency Department at University Hospital Wishaw by ambulance, however after assessment it was decided that she would not require to be admitted to hospital. It is clear from your post that you were unhappy with the advice given to her by staff in the Emergency Department and I apologise for the upset caused. Please be assured that I will share your post with the Senior Nurse for the Emergency Department to allow staff to reflect on what advice is given to patients, at what is a very anxious and unsettling time for both patients and staff.

I hope your sister-in-law is now keeping better.

Kind regards.

Lesley

Hi Lesley

The reason we were unhappy was my sister-in-law was told to book a Covid test and to self isolated with my mother in law. I was unhappy because my wife had to collect her sister which in turn make my wife and myself also would have to book the Covid-19 test and self isolated. Which made me very unhappy as I have a bad liver condition and getting tested for maybe Parkinson's disease. There for I cannot afford to catch Covid-19. That was why we were unhappy. The care she was given was really good it was that fact that my wife and myself were worried about my health due to Covid-19. Thankyou for responding to my post
