"Alcohol Treatment"

About: Taith Cardiff & The Vale of Glamorgan

(as the patient),

I have been a long time drinker and classed as a functional alcoholic for many years culminating in a contribution to not getting I work contract abroad renewed.

I also had cancer abroad which was surgically treated and I’m now in remission but medical expenses were pretty high.

Ultimately I returned to the UK due to back problems from a car accident back in the late 1990's.

Having Returned To the UK checks for my original cancer to confirm I was in remission showed that I had Padgett’s disease of the spine and an L4 vertebrae that needed to be replaced.

This culminated me in being in hospital for September October 2019 and two major spinal operations. Subsequently I have not left the house for us at the medical purposes for the last 12 months. I have no income no savings and are reliant on disability benefits all of which have been granted and I am very grateful for.

During the Covid and the home convalescence my drinking has got totally out of hand and having been offered but turndown help a few times I decided now I needed help!

To which I was referred by my GP or rather asked to call the number given and I was assigned it’s psychotherapist for drinking.

I’ve had consultations once a week occasionally more and it has been extremely helpful and I will probably go into rehab in Newlands sometime fairly soon.

This will give me the opportunity to get my life sorted out again reboot myself and give me a good starting point to get back to exercising overcoming the rehabilitation for my back and for drinking And hopefully set me on a path to a better way of life.
