""Fantastic nurses in the Recovery room (green zone level 3) and on Sunderland Ward at Medway Maritime Hospital"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital / Gastroenterology

(as the patient),

I was recently diagnosed with bowel cancer and within a very short period of time underwent colorectal surgery combined with a secondary precautionary procedure.

Following surgery, I was moved to the recovery room where I ended up staying overnight due to bed availability issues. I cannot praise the care I received and the dedication shown by the recovery nurses highly enough. In particular my thanks go to recovery nurses Doreene and Marie who looked after me and to the ward sister who stayed 6 hours after her shift had ended to try and resolve the bed issue and then support her nurses.

The following day, I moved to Sunderland ward and again I can’t praise the nurses who looked after me highly enough. Special thanks to Julie, Lizzy and the nurse who looked after me during the night but unfortunately I can’t remember her name.

These nurses are a credit to their profession, working long hours in very difficult circumstances at present and at times dealing with rude patients but remaining at all times professional. These ladies made what has been a challenging and difficult time for me more bearable. Thank you
