"Brilliant for needle phobic"

About: Trinity Medical Centre

The nurse I regularly see is truly amazing. She naturally puts people at ease, is friendly, and has been super quick with procedures. I saw her for my first ever smear and was terrified, she calmed me down, sitting with me first to talk to me, and the whole thing was quick and as okay as it's ever going to be! I came out telling all my friends it's not nearly as bad as you think it's going to be, and sending them all off to book appointments!

I have a severe (SEVERE!) needle phobia, and after a recommendation from my GP that she should do my bloods I've been seeing her for my regular bloods tests ever since. The blood tests are over in seconds, with everything preprepared before I enter as this means I have less time to think and start to panic! Thanks to her friendly nature, the routine we've created and phlebotomy skills I've started reducing the diazepam dose I need to do blood tests. This is the most okay I have ever felt about blood tests, after a lifetime of panic attacks, fight or flight responses and sleepless nights from me and those close to me anytime I need a blood test. Honestly I cannot thank my GP and this nurse enough for the huge support they have given me to help to overcome what I feel has held me back my entire lifetime. A review simply isn't enough.

I have had a few negative experiences in the past with this practice, however it really seems that they have had a big shift in attitude of staff when recruiting for reception/ appointments/ prescription roles. The previous computer says no attitude has almost completely been stamped out, now with helpful staff who seem to care.

Throughout Covid they really have come into another league.
