"Counselling"

About: Inclusion Thurrock (Talking Therapies)

(as a service user),

I started my counselling journey feeling anxious and depressed but honestly just thinking I knew why and didnt need to speak to someone.

I initally thought I couldnt be taught anything and didnt want to be judged or even open up to someone who I dont know.

Over the period in which I recieved counselling I worked with a lady named Chrissie who went above and beyond anything I really could have asked for.

I had difficulty sleeping, I had really bad anxiety and constantly felt nervous and she gave me the tools I needed to work through any issues I had and live in the present.

I honestly have not just become a better person because of it but I have overcome things I didnt know had that much impact on my everyday life.

Counselling has given me the tools to be a better person and love myself.

Dear TheBestMe,

Thank you for sharing your experiences. I think you have highlighted something very important here - often we think we know why we are feeling low or anxious, but it can still be very difficult for us to manage these difficult thoughts and feelings. We may know everything there is to know about ourselves, but still struggle with these experiences in our lives.

Opening up can be very hard as when sharing the parts of our lives we may find difficult, we do often fear being judged by others. Despite these concerns, it sounds like you have been able to open up very well during therapy and share these things with Chrissie, who I am sure will be very pleased to hear how well you have done.

You're very right, often when we are anxious we are not living in the present. Mostly, we spend our time thinking in the future, worrying about what could be, rather than staying with what is happening now.

It is lovely to hear that you now have the tools to manage your anxiety and see past it, taking steps to start loving yourself. From now, focus on maintaining these skills so you can see these benefits for the future.

Wishing you all the best for the future,

Adam
