I am a carer for a vision impaired 83 year-old, who was a patient on ward D1 at the Royal Bolton Hospital after being admitted by his GP following the result of a blood test.
He arrived after waiting 4 and a half hours for an ambulance at 9pm. After some initial tests (blood pressure, temperature) and examinations (chest, back), he was again left sitting alone for a while not knowing where the alert button was (being registered blind).
In bed, there were no blankets made available, only a single thin cotton sheet, so he had to keep his dressing gown on through the night in order to try and keep warm.
Although the day staff were very good, and the porters too, the night staff could have been much better. At no time did anyone approach him to see if he was ok.
