"Maternity Assessment Unit"

About: Princess Royal University Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

During my last pregnancy (2019-2020), I was in and out of the maternity unit so often. My blood pressure was high but my urine was fine, I was put on so many tablets I would rattle because every time my body got used to the tablets my blood pressure would rise again. I had several over night stays too just because the midwives did become concerned at points. I also had a massive fibroid which was very visable during my pregnancy causing me a lot of pain, I was very well looked after.

I hated being in hospital because it can be a little scary when you are on your own but the staff where all so lovely and tbh I thought they would get sick of the site of me!! I have seen a few of them before over the last 10 years (my first baby was born in 2010) and it was lovely to see them again, along with the newer staff/staff I had not previously met.

I would 100% recommend PRUH for maternity care and labour care. I had all 3 babies there (2nd was in the OASIS centre) and hand on heart can only say I remember 1 bad experience back with my 1st baby when I was 17 and terrified. Night and day staff both attentive and caring and if I ever have anymore I will definitely feel safe going back there.

Dear Mummy. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience of your pregnancy and birth under the care of the Princess Royal. I am sorry to hear that you had a tricky time but so glad that you were looked after so well by the team. I'll be passing your lovely comments onto the team at PRUH as I know that they will want to share with the teams. Do take care and keep safe.
