After being admitted to A&E in severe pain after my hip give out on me, some of the staff were so rude and disrespectful to me I couldn't believe it. Was told I was going for a scan, only asked how long and a nurse responded in a rude manner. Another nurse apologised. Through the night asked for pain relief, nothing. Asked a porter for help as they were just sitting round laughing and joking, I got a Zimmer frame and dragged my self to the toilet and back, the pain was mind blanking .
Had no food (I'm type 2 diabetic), needed to take meds, was told ham sandwich in a basket been there all day and they said you can have that. Yes it was dried out. In morning they checked everyone's blood and said didn't need to do mine then left me again with nothing to take my meds. When I asked they said they would see what is there. I had to ask another nurse what was happening, they didn't know then asked me what I wanted. They told the doctor I didn't need painkillers and I was up and about through the night which is not true. I asked for them, they just left me suffering.
They then said they weren't going to do my hip (fighting for over 2 years to get it done, had a private scan to show doctors I'm in agony 24/7, they said the scan could be anyone's ) - I just got me more pain killers and a physio package and how to use a Zimmer. Then packed me off with nothing on my feet in a shorts and tshirt and my bag and sent me the long way round struggling all the way in pain with a staff member just watching. A young nurse passed me and asked if I was ok and needed help but another staff member was watching and told this nurse not to help as they would get in trouble. The nurse came out the front way, which I could have been sent, asking if I was ok I said I am waiting for a lift thanked them. Only a few nice and helpful staff.
