"Lincoln Hospital a&e nightmare"

About: United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust

(as the patient),

24 hours in the a&e waiting room on a chair despite excessive sitting exacerbating my medical conditions. Being rushed out despite my ECG showing ECG sinus taccycardia with non specific T wave inversions V1,V3 non dynamic and my worsening symptoms. My GP says I should be in hospital as it is dangerous for me to be at home because of my symptoms and family history and health condition putting me at further risk. He has prescribed propranolol and is referring me to a cardiologist but still wants me in hospital to find the cause of my symptoms. I felt that staff were rude and made me leave as soon as they had given me their diagnosis of anxiety which is false due to the fact I know my body and my symptoms are continuing to worsen.

After being passed between however many doctors who hadn't read my notes property, it was the practitioner at the end who gave me their "diagnosis" and just wouldn't accept the possibility of it being something else. I was left despite my mobility problems to make my way outside in the cold and they didn't care how I was getting home. I heard staff saying that they just didn't know what to do with the patients who were waiting and why wouldn't they go home. Staff were rushing and were trying to see who they could send home-something I kept overhearing that they would send home everyone possible due to covid. I feel that  it's putting patient safety at risk. I still keep feeling like I am going to die along with all my other symptoms which all point to something heart related. I have a fear I will die at home Infront of my 3 children because of the sudden rush to get everyone out. I was told that I was going to be admitted to meau but it never happened. My GP was informed that I had been admitted and then was disgusted that I wasn't. In my opinion he truly believes my life is at risk and that something severe will happen to me sooner than later.

Dear Kochanski20

We are very disappointed to hear that your experience was so poor. It is clear that there is many aspects of your journey at this attendance that were not up to the standard we would expect. I am glad to hear that you have been able to access your GP for further medical intervention whilst your symptoms are ongoing. If you would be able to contact the PALS service to see if we can help to answer these issues and work to ensure this doesn’t happen again.

Regards

Dr David Flynn,

Consultant Emergency Medicine, Accident and Emergency
