"Kind and understanding care on Manvers Ward"

About: Chesterfield Royal Hospital / Cardiology

(as the patient),

I suffer with Autism and Mental Health problems severely. Very rarely do I ever come across anyone that is kind to me and tries to understand.

If you go to A&E it feels like a battle getting them to understand you are different and you need sight alterations to enable you to get the care you need.

I had a heart attack and ended up in A&E. It was a nightmare, the staff looked at me like I had 3 heads (I can assure you I have not), until I got put on Manvers ward that is and there were 4 staff on there that in my entire life have never been so kind to me, so understanding, went out their way and went more than the extra mile.

They were not just a nurse or a receptionist or a housekeeper they were something that the world needs more of, they were extra special.

When people say Mental Health Matters these 4 staff members meant it. They were not just words to them, they followed it through and even though it will not stop me being Autistic and it will not stop me having Mental Health problems they made a huge difference that I cannot thank them enough in letting me know there are a few out there that really care and they are the True Hero's in my book.

Becky, Millie, two staff nurses, Marie the receptionist and Lauren the House Keeper you are more than your titles and if the world was full of people like you then it would make it easier for people like me. So a huge Thank You to you and stay safe as you are rare and needed so much.
