"Supported and informed throughout my maternity experience"

About: Causeway Hospital / Delivery Suite Causeway Hospital / Maternity Unit

(as the patient),

I was admitted to Causeway Hospital for induction of labour. I was slightly anxious as I was unsure how long I would have to stay and with the covid-19 restrictions my husband was unable to be there until I was in active labour.

My anxiety was immediately settled by the care and attention from the midwives. Everyone was so helpful and very approachable. The catering staff and domestics always had a smile and were very pleasant.

As soon as I was taken to the labour ward I was told to call my husband and he was by my side throughout. Even though my birth wasn't what I had imagined we both had a very positive experience and were totally supported and informed throughout.

Dear 7241

My name is Barbara Strawbridge and I am the Lead Midwife for Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Causeway Hospital. Thank you for your kind comments and appreciation of our service. I am so pleased to hear that in the midst of the covid-19 pandemic restrictions that the midwives in Causeway Maternity Unit were able to relieve your anxiety and that you felt supported during your birth and postnatal stay. We appreciate the difficulties our mothers are experiencing with the restrictions on visiting and how isolated they can feel without their partner's presence throughout their stay in hospital so I am delighted that the team, including our catering staff and domestics made the time you were separated easier for you. We strive to make the journey for our women as positive as possible and I am glad to hear that although your birth experience wasn't what you imagined it was still positive and you felt supported. I will share your kind words of appreciation with the team as they love to hear they have provided a good standard of care.

I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate you and your husband on the birth of your baby and wish you well on your parenting journey.

Once again thank you for your feedback and best wishes for the future,

Barbara
