My Mum has had a recurring problem with a prolapse and has spent a lot of time in Neely Ward in recent months. This eventually led to her needing surgery in October.
I cannot speak highly enough of everyone who was involved in her care. She is 87 and it was all very high risk but everyone was so kind and compassionate towards her. In particular her consultation Dr Hardy treated her with a level of kindness, compassion and care that far exceeded anything her job required of her. Indeed without the care and support of Dr Hardy I don’t think my Mum would have been brave enough to proceed with surgery.
Dr Hill performed the surgery with Dr Hardy and she too was outstanding in every way. Truly compassionate and wanting the very best for my Mum, whilst understanding how difficult it was for my Mum and us as a family with the risks involved. I don’t know the name of the anaesthetist but she also took time to talk to me oh phone and explain everything whilst also making sure that my Mum had the best care and aftercare.
With very restricted visiting it was so difficult but knowing my Mum was in safe hands helped. The nurses and healthcare assistants on Neely ward knew her so well and were always willing to chat and support both my Mum and myself when they could. They work so very hard but manage to create a warm caring environment for their patients and I honestly could never thank them enough especially during the pandemic when they bravely carried on with their exceptional level of care.
There are too many names to mention but nurse Fiona treated Mum like she was her own family. Healthcare assistant Ann also helped me as well as Mum, reassuring and just generally being warm and friendly. But it’s not fair to name names as everyone was the same and since mum was in and out so many times there were many nurses involved in caring for her. She’s thankfully doing well so far
