I found a lump in my breast for the first time in April 2020, a few weeks into lockdown. As a nurse, I was concerned but tried to reassure myself. To be sure I made an appointment with my GP who then referred me on to the breast screening unit in AAH. I was seen within two weeks of my initial presentation and throughout the day was treated with care, compassion and the same level of consideration as pre-COVID. There is so much discussion of hospital care and lack there of during the pandemic but I genuinely feel so lucky to have had the experience I did, and want to reassure others that those services are still here for those who need them
