"nursing and medical care"

About: General practices in Greater Glasgow & Clyde New Stobhill Hospital / Day Surgery Victoria Infirmary / General Surgery

(as a service user),

Following Coronavirus restrictions whereby day surgery lists were postponed I was contacted recently when the lists were reinstated and my care pathway from the very first consultation with Dr Ali has been excellent. If I could I would like to identify every single healthcare worker who was part of the team, as no team can offer specialist care without the various team members regardless of their role. Suffice to say from Margaret, the day surgery scheduler (who worked hard to accommodate my clinic appointments and did so with kindness and efficiency & great patience) to my initial pre-op assessment carried out by truly wonderful nurses at Stobhill Hospital I have been grateful for the truly professional and caring manner shown to me.

As a nurse myself I experience caring and compassionate staff every day. I just need to let management know that every day they are performing outstanding care under intense pressure. Ashley and Natalie were both nurses who I met initially who explained the procedures to me and walked me through the next stages. These nurses were professional, knowledgeable and just really kind and friendly. The excellent care continued through to day surgery at the New Victoria where the nursing and medical staff were first class. Lynne, Beth, Meg and Shirley provide superb nursing care and made me feel at ease and relaxed. They took great care of me. I had never met the medical team prior to the day of surgery but I was immediately  at ease with them. The anaesthetics team were first class and Dr Higgins and her registrar need particular mention for their expert surgical care.

We are all working hard within the NHS to deliver safe, effective care. I'd like to think I am a small part of the bigger picture delivering that care, but being on the receiving end is always strange. But I needed to mention the care I received and say thank you to everyone who provided that care. All of you deserve more than a few words of praise from me.

Special mention to my GP (Dr Ali). He is truly an excellent GP!

Dear ALLiS,

I was really pleased to hear of your recent experience of care within Stobhill and the Victoria ACHs. As a nurse you will appreciate that we are all working in difficult times and so it is all the more heartening for our staff to receive such positive feedback from our patients.

I will ensure that our staff are made aware of your comments and trust that you are making a good recovery. Thank you once again for taking the time to contact us.

Your sincerely,

John Stuart

Chief Nurse.
