"Ablation for Atrial Fibrilation at Golden Jubilee"

The day of the procedure went exceedingly well with exceptional care and attention by the staff of the cardiology day unit.  All aspects of the procedure were explained (or an explanation was offered - I declined to hear a couple of these) and I was kept at ease at all times.  I don't think I could have better care anywhere and it seemed that the time flew as I wasn't kept waiting around at all.

However, the day before I was booked for my Covid test in the morning on site at the Golden Jubilee (I was isolating as per the hospital request so remained in the car after leaving home) and went through the drive through test unit at approximately 15 mins before my scheduled appointment time, I was told that the results would be phoned to me in a couple of hours.  I and my partner had booked into the adjoining hotel (for the nights before and after the procedure) but I was not allowed into the hotel without a negative Covid result. 

I parked in the Golden Jubilee car park awaiting my results so I could enter the hotel but after three and a half hours of waiting my partner phoned the testing unit to be told the results were still not in but they would contact me as soon as they arrive.  another 2 hrs later I tried phoning the testing unit again but it only went to voicemail (I have been in the car all this time) so my partner contacted the lady that had been dealing with my appointment and she said she would find out immediately.  This she did and she called me back within 20 mins with my negative result so I could now leave the car and enter the hotel (the bathroom was very much needed).  The hotel did an excellent job during my stay and the cleanliness was amazing with a very focused attitude towards keeping Covid away.

I understand these are trying times but I'm pointing out the wait for the Covid results could be very distressing for a lot of people - I was very lucky that my result was negative and that my procedure went ahead as planned with no problems what so ever.  I would like to express my sincere thanks to the whole of the cardiac day unit and a special thanks to Claire who helped with everything from arranging the appointment and all subsequent queries (she must have been sick of hearing from me).
