"All staff were so understanding"

About: Antrim Area Hospital / Ward C6 Male Surgical

(as a relative),

My Elderly Father with Dementia was admitted through ED in July to Ward C6. Every single person involved in his hospital journey could not have been better! My Father can be agitated due to his dementia and all staff where so understanding of his frustrations and went above and beyond to alleviate his anxiety.

Our family want to send a heartfelt Thank you to everyone in these departments. Not just the Doctors and Nurses, the Multi disciplinary team, support services staff such as Porters, Domestics, ward clerks, Pantry Staff,  Agency Staff who are so often overlooked. You are all working under intense pressures but always remain professional and friendly! Your kindness did not go unnoticed.

Thank you!

Dear Felicia,

Thank you for taking the time to write this lovely comment on care opinion following your father's recent admission to ward C6. The team felt very emotional on receiving your positive feedback during these challenging times in the health service. I understand that living with dementia can be very challenging and frightening, particularly if you outside of your familiar surroundings of home. As you have mentioned, being in hospital can often trigger further anxiety and fear for patients with dementia, and we as a team are really pleased that you felt we minimised this for your father.

I hope your father is recovering well following his recent admission.

Kind regards,

Aileen

Lead Nurse Surgery
