"Excellent help and care for my son at last!"

About: Norfolk PCT / Primary care mental health service Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust / Learning disability South London And Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust / Adult mental health The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (King's Lynn)

(as a parent/guardian),

A few months ago I wrote a story condemning South London and Maudsley Hospital, Behavioural Disorders clinic for not diagnosing my son correctly. Included in this condemnation was Oxleas Mental Health Trust of Dartford, (Erith and Bexleyheath) for their lack of help and care. It is realised that the help was inadequate as they did not have a full diagnosis but I would like to know if there is an unwritten rule that social workers etc cannot question a diagnosis that they privately feel is not in the patient's best interest?

Be that as it may, my son has now been diagnosed with ADHD, he has started on his medication and is thrilled at the result. He no longer hears voices in his head and his impulsive behaviour has definitely reduced.

My son is happy that the GP, psychiatrist and Endocrine specialist all actually listen to him and behave accordingly.

So a bouquet to all medical staff in King's Lynn who have had dealings with my son for making one family very happy. He has had excellent help and care at West Norfolk Wellbeing Clinic, Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn and St James Medical Practice.
