""Fobbed off" by Rotherham District General"

About: Rotherham Hospital / Older people's healthcare

(as the patient),

I've been having trouble with headaches & dizziness. At my appointment at 'Medicine for the Elderly' at Rotherham General, the Dr said "we know it's not fits" which I knew anyway (I know what fits are). Then at the end of the appointment he said "we think your symptoms are due to low blood pressure" but I said that I've never had low blood pressure before, to which he replied "we think you have an irregular heart beat".

I'm fed up with being fobbed off because that's what it feels like. I had a nervous breakdown last year & I still get very stressed out (which I'm trying to overcome) as I still want to know what is causing my headaches & dizziness> If they would give me a brain scan, at least then it would definitely rule some things out.

Thank you for posting your opinion on the site.

We are sorry that you feel that your health problems are not resolved appropriately after speaking to the doctor.

If you would like to contact the Matron for the Care of the Elderly she will happily take more details from you. She will then ensure that the consultant in charge of your care is made fully aware of your concerns, which will enable him to give you a fuller explanation and advise at your next appointment.
