Arrived from Guernsey by air ambulance, met at ward entrance, admitted, swabbed, blood tests & ECG, doctors visit, all in first hour. Connected to heart monitor continually, given full information on care plan, same nursing team caring for me. Heart scan, chest X-ray done in my bed, Angioplasty done next day, superb organisation. Discharged following day. Everyone involved was kind, proficient, organised and happy in their work, even though they had to wear a mask at all times, change apron & gloves between every patient contact and must have sore hands from all the scrubbing.
You hear so much negative press about the NHS but I cannot praise them highly enough for the care I received. The entire CCU/Cath Lab is a well oiled machine providing top quality service. Yes, it’s noisy and has the sense of a conveyor belt service, but for most patients it’s a few days to save their life. I will be forever grateful.
