"Amazing Care"

About: Princess Anne Hospital

I had my second baby at Princess Anne.

I had complications (retained placenta and PPH) following the birth of my first baby in a London birth centre, and as such was classed as high risk and consultant led during my second pregnancy.

I phoned the ward when in labour and was told to come straight away.

When we arrived we met with a lovely midwife who was efficient, thorough, relaxed and with a sense of humour (very important!) I was hypnobirthing and was very impressed that she read my birth plan and as I wished, checked on me in my room every so often, but essentially where possible leaving me to it.

She decorated the room containing the birth pool with fairy lights which was lovely to walk into.

She kept very calm and reassured my anxiousness.

I gave birth using just gas and air in the pool, and afterwards had to have a three hour drip to minimise blood loss. This was organised so efficiently. During this I also had stitches by a lovely female Doctor who was very experienced.

Having worried for 9 months about what could and probably would go wrong, I was amazed that nothing did.

I had been told how amazing they were at P A, and it is true.

Afterwards I was discharged straight away and went to stay in the Lyndhurst birth centre for two nights to recover. I can honestly say I felt great during this stay, and will forever be indebted to the wonderful staff at P A who cared for me and my baby, ensuring our safety.

I am also currently still breastfeeding my nearly 10 month old, with huge thanks to the lovely senior midwife/tongue tie nurse at Lymington hospital who showed me exactly what to do.

A wonderful birth experience I will always treasure.

So many thanks.
