"Thanks to all on ward 15 at Tameside"

About: Tameside General Hospital / Colorectal surgery

(as the patient),

I was a patient on ward 15 of the Tameside General for a right hemicolectomy to treat bowel cancer.

I found the standard of care to be very good in all aspects, from that of the medical professionals to the care given by the nursing team.

If there were more nurses on the ward it would obviously be less stressful for those on duty. During my last week, I was observing the nurses and could see how overworked they actually were.

Thank you to Carol Cunningham (Stoma nurse); Anna, Denise, Rachel, Rose (Staff nurses); Mr Siddiqui, Mr Samet, and Heather (House Dr).

Thank you for your kind comments about your care and treatment on ward 15. I will make sure your comments are passed on to the staff you have mentioned, and I am sure they will be very pleased to receive them. With regard to the number of nurses on the ward, we have recently agreed a plan which will lead to a better nurse to bed ratio in this ward. I have passed your kind comments on to the staff you have named. You may like to know that you can nominate staff who have given exceptionally good service for our “Show you care for those who care” or “Above and Beyond” awards. Details of both awards, as well as entry forms, are available on the hospital website and click on “Patient Information”.
