"Prescriptions incorrect during the pandemic"

About: NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde

(as a service user),

Since the pandemic and first lockdown, I have spent most of my time driving around all the chemists in the district trying to fulfil my prescription.  I have had one doctor appointment with a doctor that knows nothing about me or my conditions.  I have had one venesection and all other appointments either cancelled or rearranged as a telephone appointment.

I fully understand Covid 19 has priority, but feel my self and other chronically ill patients now require to be pulled back into NHS agenda.

Hi delphinusne47,

Thank you for taking the time to share your story. I am sorry to hear that you have had so many issue getting your prescription, I have spoken with my colleagues in the Pharmacy Team and they would like to see how they could help you with this, and have asked if you could email them at pharmacyservices@ggc.scot.nhs.uk

I also wanted to offer our apologies that we have had to cancel or re-arrange your appointments, Covid-19 has been very disruptive to how we deliver services but we are continually working to improve whilst keeping our patients, relatives and staff safe.

Your GP or Consultant may be the best people to raise your concerns around appointments with at this stage, they should be able to give you more information on alternative methods of staying in touch or receiving care, possibly by offering consultations via the telephone or over video call using Near Me.

Kind Regards

Nicole

Thanks Nicole,

I will follow up with the email to the Pharmacy Team and understand completely in relation to Covid 19. However, it is confusing to receive appointments for Gastroenterology when the appointment is for a Venesection, as I also have a hiatus hernia, perhaps I should be going to both... Your response has been of some help:-)

Hi Delphinusne47

I hope that the Pharmacy Team can help with your medication. I am unsure why you have received an appointment for Gastroenterology. Can I suggest contacting the Gastroenterology Department as it may be that you have 2 separate appointments? The telephone number for Gastroenterology appointments at Inverclyde Royal Hospital is 01475 524 107.

Best wishes

Nicole

Hi Nicole,

I contacted the gastro team and I did indeed have an appointment!!

I'm not too sure what occurred in relation to the venesection appointment, seems I must have been double booked:-)

Now back on track (I hope):-)

Update posted by delphinusne47 (a service user)

Morning Nicole,

My appointment with Gastroenterology was for a venesection and my monthly prescription went totally skewiff again last week, to the point I am still waiting on my pain killers which were due last Thursday. Both the surgery and the chemist are aware and I feel I have been left to suffer all weekend, I can barely move my legs. I won't be contacting anyone else because no-one is doing anything. The only thing that is occurring is I am becoming more and more upset, so not worth it

Dear delphinusne47

I am very sorry to read that you are still waiting for your medication. Did the Chemist explain or GP explain why there was a delay or what the issues were? As you are suffering and unable to move your legs I would urge you to speak to you GP to see if they can help or offer any alternative medication.

Take Care

Nicole
